Domain-specific informative and indicative summarization for information retrieval

In this paper, we propose the use of multidocument summarization as a post-processing step in document retrieval. We examine the use of the summary as a replacement to the standard ranked list. The form of the summary is novel because it has both informative and indicate elements, designed to help di erent users perform their tasks better. Our summary uses the documents' topical structure as a backbone for its own structure, as it was deemed the most useful document feature in our study of a corpus of summaries.
